WHAT WE LOVE ABOUT THE HOUSE…

We love our home, whether we are sipping coffee on the front porch while watching the sunrise or entertaining and cooking for friends around our huge kitchen island, it has been perfect for us and our growing family. Our quiet office has served as a home business for me for years, where I meet regularly with clients. Every time we have visitors, they can’t believe that anyone else is home. The say, “Your kids are here? It’s so quiet!” On the flip side, we have entertained many neighbors while the kids slept soundly upstairs; it’s amazing!” Not only do we love our overhead garage storage, but the attic also has tons of attic space! Our home has always been bright and welcoming, and (shhh..don’t tell) but many of our neighbors have commented  that we have the best kitchen island in all of Brookhaven:) We are going to have to re-create all the things we’ve loved (custom drawers, dark wooden bathroom sinks, our brick backsplash) in our new home.

WHAT WE LOVE ABOUT THE NEIGHBORHOOD…

We love Brookhaven so much that we are staying in the neighborhood!! We are simply up-sizing just around the corner. Not only are the amenities unmatched in the area, but there are social events throughout the year that help bring the community together, which is essential for new neighbors to get out and meet others! Besides the organized events, Brookhaven is a slice of old-school Americana. Just drive around and you will see kids outside playing, parents out talking and welcoming faces waving to new neighbors. This is a tight-knit community with neighbors looking out for each other. There is also a Brookhaven Mom’s group, which really helped me acclimate to the neighborhood and find kids with similar ages and interests as my own kids when we moved here from the northeast.

Brookhaven is so unique because it’s a live and play type of neighborhood. Plus, so many neighbors work from home. It’s the ultimate destination! We love the ability to walk to school and the pool, stroll through the walking trails, hang out in the amazing Brookhaven pool and ride the lazy river. Not to mention the fact that there are tennis and dance camps right here in the neighborhood during the summer. 

We originally moved here for the A-rated school system and we are so grateful for the wonderful public school our kids attend! But we have found so much more. In Brookhaven, we have found neighbors who have become family and a community that is truly a rare jewel in South Charlotte.

WHAT WE LOVE ABOUT SOUTH CHARLOTTE…

South Charlotte has so much to offer. It’s peaceful near our neighborhood but surrounded by parks, retail, restaurants and really anything to suit your interest. Check out gorgeous nearby parks like Squirrel Lake and Beatty, that boast miles of hiking and biking trails. Head 10 minutes north to Downtown Matthews where small town charm blends with urban style offerings like breweries, wine bars, cheese shops, bakeries and more! Don’t miss Matthews Food Truck Fridays, the awesome farmer’s market,  First Thursday Night Out, Art Festivals and their infamous Labor Day Festival. Head a few minutes west to find the new Waverly shopping center which offers upscale suburban chic retail, restaurants and shops like Whole Foods, Porter’s House, Yama and spots to grab a coffee and let the kids run on the green. We are also a hop, skip from uptown Charlotte and Carowinds. Union County Public Schools are amazing and top rated year after year.
